Review: I can imagine that
people sometimes like to listen to droning sounds; fuck,
there's a whole world of "new age" people doing
nothing else. I can imagine that people with a preference
for 'alternative' cd's with sounds of mating whales, will
be susceptible to the sounds on De berg van
verdoemenis. I can hardly see fans of old Vond or
Aghast albums (but also Planet Aids or Bunkur fans) -
possible target audiences - closing their eyes and
emerging themselves in the mesmerizing sounds of this
recording. I think it won't even hit a target in a group
of stoned-out-of-their-minds hippies. The only nerve it
hits in my body is the one that triggers the movement of
my hand in any direction to turn off what my ears are
trying hard not to register. To keep it short, I imagine
two guys toying around in a teenage bedroom with a
guitar, a keyboard, a tape recorder, and the ad hoc idea
of "recording a demo", but with no clue of what
to create... Shit, if I want droning I put on the
comments of a sports channel for a while.
