Review: After having gone through several
line-up changes, Funeral Winds entered a period of
relative stability, which paved the way to the release of
the brutally cold Koude haat album. While
writing this album, when I was still part of the line-up,
Funeral Winds recorded promotional material for
interested labels in Balgradon's Vortex studio. The first
of these songs were re-recordings of two tracks from
Godslayer Xul and Dawn of the Third Holocaust,
which was an Infinity song adopted into the Funeral Winds
oeuvre. Because they were recorded on seperate occasions,
all of the tracks have a different sound, but are always
tightly played. Still, they cannot compare to the
professional recordings that have been made of them
earlier and later on. The three tracks remain unreleased
and reside with the musicians only, with maybe only a
very few exceptions.

Review: After sending the 2001 promo
material around, labels were really more interested in
new Funeral Winds material, other than re-recordings of
old songs. They were eager to hear what the band could do
with the new line-up. That resulted in promotional
material featuring four newly written songs, that were to
have a place on the next album. Because the songs were
all recorded on different occasions in 2002 in the Vortex
Studio, the sound was far from homogenous, but it wasn't
as diverse as the 2001 tracks. These new tracks finally
landed the band a contract with Spanish label Death To
Mankind, but hardly saw the light of day within a waiting
scene. Like the promo 2001 material, the promo 2002
material remained hardly distributed.
